Some love stories feel like they’re straight out of a movie, and Tyler and Emily’s proposal at the historic Swan House was exactly that.

I was so excited when I saw Tyler’s inquiry come through and knew right away this was going to be something incredibly special. On the date of the engagement, I headed to the Swan House early to get everything in place.

From the moment I arrived, the magic had already begun. Tyler and Emily’s closest family and friends were there setting up the most beautiful florals and candles, each detail carefully placed with so much love. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and warmth, and it was evident how deeply loved this couple was.

Meanwhile, I had my eye on Tyler’s location (shout out Find My Friends!) so we could all hide before his arrival. Before we knew it, they were walking up the hill and  Emily’s expression shifted as she started to realize what was happening – pure joy, total surprise and all the emotions you could imagine dancing across her face.

Before she could even say a word, Tyler was already on one knee, asking Emily to spend forever with him. And her answer? Yes, of course!

But Emily had a little surprise of her own. Even though she didn’t know exactly when the engagement would happen, she had carried a letter in her purse every time she thought it might. And in that moment, she pulled it out and read it to Tyler. The two of them stood there, wrapped in a private exchange of promises, declarations and years of love. It was such an intimate, sweet moment to witness. 

Then came the second surprise: Friends and family came out from their hiding places to celebrate with the newly engaged couple. Emily was overwhelmed (in the best way) to see all the people who had traveled from all around just to be part of this milestone.

After all the hugs, tears and celebration, I gave Tyler and Emily a few quiet moments together to soak it all in. Then we wandered the grounds of the Swan House, capturing their first newly-engaged moments.

Days like these are exactly why I do what I do. Being trusted to document your love stories is the greatest privilege, and Tyler and Emily’s proposal will forever hold a piece of my heart.
